Emilienne d'Alençon (1869-1946) was a famous French dancer and courtesan, known as one of the "Three Graces of the Belle Époque," along with Liane de Pougy and Caroline Otero. She performed in Paris at the Casino de Paris, the Folies Bergère, and la Scala, before marrying the Jockey Percy Woodland. A possible hint to her association with Woodland is the presence of a man and horse in the background.
