La Tige - Moulin Rouge (Signed Proof)

1894

11 3/4 x 17 1/4 in /
27.9 x 43.2 cm

One of three known proofs, this being the only known one that is signed
Printed in black on japan paper

This print shows Maurice Guibert (1856-1913), a champagne representative, amateur painter, photographer and ‘the man who knows most about all the floosies in Paris' (Fin de Siecle, 7 July 1895). For Lautrec he was also an indispensable guide to the maisons closes. Here we see him eyeing up a very bony beauty in the Moulin Rouge who was known as La Tige (the Stalk).
