Here is a stage-side view of the buffoonish comedian Pierre-Paul Marsale, known as Polin, as he performs. Polin appeared at the Alcazar d'Eté and La Scala, achieving great success with his caricatures of the French military. Lautrec sent a trial proof of the drawing to Sands in London on 25 February 1898.
