For the last time, we see here the foyer of the Moulin Rouge. Lautrec's cousin, Gabriel Tapie de Celeyran, and the photographer Sescau stand in the background on the left, in a final reminiscence of its performers and of Lautrec's many visits to the establishment. This work was made at the end of 1898 for the Album Germinal, published in 1899 by Julis Meier-Graefe with a text, ‘Au Bal Public', by Geffroy.
